what kind of electric chopper will chop salad?

    Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

I get salad at a local salad place where you go in and choose your ingredients and then they put all the ingrediants you chose for your salad including the type of lettuce into a chopping machine. What comes out is yummy chopped evenly mixed ingrediants in a matter of seconds.

So I tried doing this in my food processor and no matter how little I tried pulsing it- it cut the pieces of my salad way too little- almost to a salsa. Especially the leaves of lettuce.

What kind of chopper do you think these guys use. I’d really like to get one. I would totally eat more salads if all I had to do to make one was dump all the ingrediants in a machine at once and it spit out a nicely chopped salad.

Can I use a food processor to shred lettuce?

    Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

It is okay, or will it "ruin" the lettuce? I usually buy the shreds, but I have not had very good luck with finding "green" lettuce, or it is done for a day or two later. I put it in the green veggie bags, but that has not helped it. I was hoping to try to make my own "shreds". I use it in a pita pocket for my lunch everyday. If it is okay to shred it in a processor, how is the best way to do it? I have the Food Network Mini-Procesor/chopper. I just bought it, so this is all new to me.

    Thanks…

Kitchen Aid Shredders vs. Food processors……help please?

    Sunday, January 30th, 2011

I’m getting rather confused. Went from liking Mandoline Slicers to not really liking them. I think a food processor would be IDEAL (one that is good with shredded cheese quickly & potatoes for homefries). Anyway, I was looking online here and saw something abt shredders/slicers? I think but not totally sure that those attach to a regular standard mixer? I might have one of those stored in the attic somewhere, never used so I have to go look but is that what they are or are they separate?

And what is best out of these 3….Mandoline Slicer, Food Processor or Shredder/Slicer thing?

    Thanks.
And I know there’s other brands besides Kitchen Aid
I would like to make thin french fries, thin zucchini slices (I call it zucchini spaghetti; then I just cook it with olive oil & garlic, etc. I hand sliced one once. NOT again! Took WAY too long).

Also would like to make homefries.

Would like to shred cheese to make my own mac & cheese. I have a little chopper. I also have the magic bullet but I was thinking something more powerful, like a processor. My Bullet doesn’t do cheese all that well. And whatever else I can think of.

grating food? I need to grate garlic onions & carrots in a food processor, but have blender, does it matter?

hand grating takes time, will it matter if I throw them in a blender?????
made a lowfat turkey meatloaf, found a wicked chopper, chopped , carrot, garlic and mushrooms, pulsed onions with blender and it actually was good, with extra breadcrumbs, wasn’t too mushy.
